Beginning his career as a Merrill Lynch Financial Consultant in Arizona, he finished his brokerage industry tenure in branch management with Prudential Securities on the East Coast. In the early 1990's he established a Phoenix, Arizona branch office for a mid-sized investment advisory firm, and in the late 1990's established S.J. Taddie, Inc., Investment Counsel, prior to co-founding Stellar Capital Management in July of 2000. He has worked with a select group of clients ranging from publicly traded corporations, government entities, and Native American Indian Tribes, to high net worth individuals and families across the country. He is frequently asked to speak on economic and investment management trends, has authored numerous articles and has often been quoted on the same subjects.

Mr. Taddie is a member of the National Association for Business Economists (NABE), a Panelist for the NABE Outlook (National Forecast) and the NABE Financial Industry Roundtable, the Western Blue Chip Economic Panel and the Arizona Blue Chip Economic Panel. He is a member and Past President of the Arizona Economic Round Table, a member and past Board Member of the Central Arizona Estate Planning Conference, a member of the CFA Institute and the Phoenix CFA Society, and an Arbitrator for FINRA (the new NASD). He is a past member of the Economic Club of Phoenix, the Western Pension & Benefits Conference, Arizona Town Hall, and the Madison School District Financial Oversight Committee. Currently serving on the Desert Botanical Gardens Foundation Board of Directors, he has served on the Advisory Board and the Executive Board of the Foundation for Burns & Trauma, the Executive Boards for the Foothills Foundation, the Phoenix Camelback Rotary Club, and the Finance Committee for the Desert Botanical Gardens. He has also volunteered with Junior Achievement and coached youth sports teams.

Mr. Taddie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from Lehigh University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

John Reimer, CFA

Director of Research

John-Reimer.JPG Mr. Reimer has over 20 years of investment experience and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He began his career with American Century Investors in 1991 as an Equity Analyst, and then served as Director of Research at Sentinel Pension Institute, investment consultants to over 60 Fortune 500 company pension plans. He established Advantage Capital Management, an investment management and consulting firm, and later became a portfolio manager at PacWest Financial Management prior to joining Stellar Capital Management.

Mr. Reimer is a member of the CFA Institute, the Phoenix CFA Society, and the Central Arizona Estate Planning Council. He is a member of the Men's Art Council, a support organization for Phoenix Art Museum, and has served on the VinArte and Copperstate 1000 committees, two of the largest fundraisers for the museum. He is a past member of the Los Angeles CFA Society and the Kansas City CFA Society. Mr. Reimer has been quoted in Pensions & Investments Magazine and the Arizona Republic. He has been a volunteer lecturer at schools on the subjects of finance and investing and is regularly asked to give educational seminars across the state.

PhilIp A. LaMell

Philip Lamel Mr. LaMell has over 40 years of investment and banking experience. He began his career as a Trust Officer at The First National Bank of Chicago, advancing to Trust Investment Officer at The First National Bank and Trust Company of Barrington, Illinois. He was recruited by Valley National Bank of Arizona (later Bank One/JP Morgan Chase) in 1979, to be a Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager, and later held the positions of Investment Strategist/Marketing Manager, Manager of Investors and Shareholder Relations, and Special Projects Manager developing Valley Capital Management and Sun Eagle Mutual Funds before assuming the responsibilities of Managing Director/Portfolio Management – Western Division. He spent seven years at Merrill Lynch Asset Management as Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager with responsibilities for Arizona, Colorado and Utah, and most recently served as Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager for JP Morgan Chase, responsible for their largest and most complex investment management and Trust Relationships.

Mr. LaMell has served on the Planning Commission of Arlington Heights, Illinois, the board of the Scottsdale YMCA, as a member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), and as President of Arizona NIRI. He is currently a member of the CFA Institute, the Phoenix CFA Society, and serves on the Investment Committee of the Boy Scouts of America, Grand Canyon Council. He has also been active in youth activities and coached youth sports teams.

Mr. LaMell holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois majoring in Finance with an Economics minor.

Richard D. Stern, CFA

Mr. Stern is a Co-founder and a Managing Member of Stellar Capital Management. In over 40 years of professional success in the investment field, Mr. Stern, a Chartered Financial Analyst, was a First Vice President of Newburger, Loeb & Co. in New York City beginning in 1962, mainly as Supervisory Research Analyst and Floor Partner; a Senior Vice President and Director of Equity Research at Central Trust Company in Cincinnati; and a Vice President, managing both the bank and trust investments, at Great Western Bank in Phoenix ;before establishing in his own investment firm in 1984 and then co-founding Stellar Capital Management in 2000. He has been published or quoted in Barron's, Medical Economics, the Wall Street Transcript, The Arizona Republic, The Business Journal, Employee Benefits Journal, and Trusts and Estates. He is profiled in Who's Who in America.

Mr. Stern has served on the Boards of the Phoenix Society of Financial Analysts, the Phoenix Chamber Music Society, the American Jewish Committee, the Asian Arts Council, the University Club of Phoenix and the Arizona Theatre Company. He served as President of the Arizona Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and on its national planned giving committee. He is currently a Member of the CFA Institute, the Phoenix CFA Society, a Board Member of the Harvard Business School Club of Arizona, Vice President of the Princeton Alumni Association of Northern Arizona, a member of the Alumni Schools Committee for Princeton University , and an Executive Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League, as well as an Associate National Commissioner.  He received the "Al" Brooks Community Leadership Award in 1995.

Sheryl L. Rayner

Vice President and Director of Operations

Sheryl RaynerMrs. Rayner has been with Stellar Capital Management since the founding of the firm and has played a key role in its development. Working in the financial services industry since 1994, she has over 20 years of experience in operations and administration. She manages all operational and administrative aspects of the firm including include human resources and accounting, client services, new accounts, account administration, and custody, and trading relationships. She is also the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.

Mrs. Rayner is a founding Board Member, Past President and former Treasurer of the Women's Metropolitan Art Council, a support organization of Phoenix Art Museum. She has also served as co-chair of both the Programming and Development Committees. She is an active member of her local PTA and has worked with both the Foundation for Burns and Trauma and the Foothills Foundation.

Mrs. Rayner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, magna cum laude, from Arizona State University.

Melinda J. Tinney

Operations Specialist

Melinda Tinney Mrs. Tinney joined Stellar Capital Management's Operations Department in February 2005. She is responsible for multiple back office functions including daily account reconciliation, working as a liaison with custodians and corporate trustees on trading and operational issues, and providing shareholder support services for Stellar clients. Mrs. Tinney has over 10 years experience in the banking and financial services, spending five years as an Operations Specialist for a regional trust company. She has an extensive background in securities processing, account reconciliations and asset management.

Mrs. Tinney is an Ambassador Volunteer for Free Arts of Arizona. She currently serves as co-chair of the Development Events Committee which is responsible for the 2011 fundraisers Furnishing Healing through Free Arts and the Every Child Matters Luncheon. She served as the logistics chair for the 2010 Lunch at the Movies event and served several times as a House Captain in their Palette of Homes Tour. In May 2011 she received the ”2011 Free to Express Award” which honors a Free Arts of Arizona volunteer who has been an outstanding champion of the organization in the areas of development and/or marketing.

Mrs. Tinney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Wyoming.
